Worth it.

Monday Feb 16, 2015

I just found out that my manager, my 40+ year old competent manager, has never ironed a shirt in his life.

Even though he’s worked in the corporate world for 20+ years and wears a business shirt every work day of his life.

I just told him he is everything wrong with modern man and if I get fired because of it, it was totally worth it.

That’s kind of equal parts amazing and sad. Does he just have them cleaned each week so he doesn’t have to? Does that mean he immediately started doing that as soon as he left home, or does he have an excellent wife who never drops the ball on shirt ironing. So many questions!!

He comes from a Greek background so went from his Mum doing it to his wife doing it for him.

I was so nearly impressed with this. I mean I’m all for doing less ironing. But getting someone else to do it is (a) not very modern and (b) totally the wrong way of solving this problem. We need a society which tolerates crumpled clothes.

Chris! So lovely to see you here.

I personally don’t own an ironing board so realise I’m throwing stones in my delightful glass house. But at least I know how to fucking iron a shirt!
